My Sunday Best

Since moving to Maine I don't get dressed much... I mean, I get dressed but on my good days that means Jeans and a sweater. usually I spend my days in what are intended to be athletic clothes and on bad days I just change back into flannel pajamas. Don't judge. Every so often; however, I have an opportunity to spend time around real grown-ups and when that happens I like to bust out my real grown-up clothes. I've spent a lot of my free time second-hand shopping recently and i've become quite proud of my take on grown-up clothes. It used to be that I would never shop second-hand for anything. ever. but having a child ended that quite abruptly - Baby clothes are too expensive to only wear once. Now I tend to take joy in "Thrifting" because, aside from the fact that it's much cheaper to buy second-hand, there's so much variety and so many opportunities to make something my own. You really can find the coolest stuff!

 like this...

This was $4.99 at Goodwill in Topsham, ME. It smelled like potpourri and fit perfectly. the top snap is loose but two swipes with a needle and thread and that'llbe taken care of. It's a Cabi sweater which i guess is pretty great. I just love the pattern... it reminds me of wallpaper or something and that's generally a good thing for me.
 and this...
This was also $4.99 at Goodwill in Topsham ( that place is great) I love this retro looking polka dot dress! I just bought a red crinoline slip that I'm going to wear with it so the skirt will floof out.

and This...
This I love! Pure Polyester at it's finest. check out the big pockets.

Anyway,if I can find something to wear that has some character I'll take it (I especially love handmade items.) I realize the clothes I wear are coveted by few but I've been trying not to own anything that I don't absolutely love and some days I just feel pretty. Those days are mostly Sundays.

Goofy smile! I realize nothing matches but that might be why I like it so much. The pastor mentioned something about women looking dishevelled in his message today and a little girl in front of me whipped around in her seat and stared at me. I think I should probably take that personally. Anyway, I'm really excited about that dress. It was $5.99 at Goodwill and it's a silk dress from United Colors of Benetton. The sweater was less than $2.00 at a garage sale in Juneau. The boots were a gift from my mother from Modcloth.com and I bought the scarf from a street vendor in Paris when I was 18. (yes I feel special for buying something from a street vendor  in Paris.) I wore it with a $40.00 black pea-style jacket from target. Don't I look cute? I think so too.

Here's something cuter!

Good Job, Chad!
so neither one of them wanted to get their picture taken but it makes me laugh a little to look at this picture. Betty is wearing a dress handmade by her Grandma Sue with lots of love.  I love the yellow rick rack.

That's Chad holding Betty. Look at the facial hair, everybody! Nice, Right?  *scattered applause*

  1. I LOVE this post! I did not recognize any of those songs, but I am sure I would if I heard them!
I have always loved shopping second hand- I get so many good things that are cheap and fit me great! I remember when I first took you, you were like, "I don't wear things other people have worn." I was like, "Oh ok. Me neither. This is stupid. Please like me..." Haha! I was desperate back then! Haha jk!
I love that you are getting healthy- I love that you are establishing a cute style, that fits perfectly for you- and I especially love your funeral dress, and I WANT it!
You are so cute and I am glad you are my sister!
