Please excuse the little sliver of mess you can see in the background. My energy levels are at an all-time low recently. This outfit was most definitely way too cold to wear on Sunday. It was a bitter cold and I did not have on enough layers. I do really like the dress though - it's thrifted. I think I got the sweater online but I can't remember where and the leggings came from walgreens of all places. 9.99. I generally hate tights of all kinds but these were surprisingly comfy.

My Sunday Best! ( 5 Days Late.)
I have Pants!!! These are hand-me-downs from my friend meg and a shirt I bought from target a year ago (not maternity.) Also my beloved bola ball. I love that thing.
Still not feeling super stylish but I at least feel comfortable again!

My Sunday Best
So I didn't exactly go to any crazy effort today but oh well. To be honest I'm just pleased to have found something that fits like I'm supposed to be wearing it. No accessories, no fuss. Still looking for some maternity pants but at least I'm having a little luck with skirts and dresses - might make for a cold winter though.
I'm 21 weeks and 2 days pregnant today. The dress is from Target.

My Sunday Best (Really more like "It's Sunday... What Fits?")
Betty really did want to be in the picture. The skirt was a hand-me-down from Aunt Judy. The shirt I bought years ago from The Buckle - and it's working a little too hard. The jacket is my old standby from Target. I'm getting a little too big to fit my old clothes and I'm still a little too small for most maternity clothes. This is definitely the awkward stage.

My Sunday Best
So I've hit that really awkward stage in my pregnancy where it's not even worth it to try on pants without drawstrings and everything I try on either makes me look like an exploded can of biscuits or a potato shoved into clothes. I'm finally gaining weight. I'd lost ten pounds at 15 weeks and at 19 weeks I'd gained five of them back so that's encouraging. now I need to dial it back a bit maybe and start thinking of more healthy options. Still battling the queasies though so I'm not going to be too hard on myself.
It was a pretty windy day today but the dress held up (unlike my hair.) both of these items are thrifted. the sweater is 100% silk and cost me $1.00! the dress was under ten. It has a subtle ombre effect and is just really comfortable even though it's kind of a mumu - I'll be able to wear this one for a while.

My Sunday Best: Maternity Edition
So I'm Seventeen weeks and two days pregnant today and the whole family is getting really excited to discover the gender of our little occupant. I'm starting to have some real trouble finding things to wear but here's what I came up with this week.
For some reason it will only let me change the size of the top photo - That's not an editing call on my part.
The Scarf is from Stella Bella Designs on etsy, Jacket - Target. Cami (one that I will be turning into a nursing cami) - Amazon.com. Blouse - Thrifted. Maternity skirt - Thrifted.

My Sunday Best
So here I am 16 weeks and 2 days pregnant and already plotting out my nursing attire for when baby comes. Last time I used a cover and my regular clothes - yes, even underwire bras. My reasoning last time around was that there were virtually zero places to buy nursing wear in our Alaska town. This time, however, I'm forgoing the traditional nursing designs because, well... they're gross. I hate the nursing tanks with the clasps on the straps - so frustrating. I also hate that most nursing shirts are also maternity shirts so that when the baby is out and the idea would ideally be to downplay the size of your belly, you're still wearing huge clothes designed to accentuate your floppy stomach. Why not design affordable nursing shapewear? why not design nursing tanks that can open from the front rather than the top? It seems like common sense to me but clearly I'm alone in this because it's almost impossible to find these things. Solution? I'll make and compile them myself. My other issue with nursing is that of the nursing cover. Yes, I believe in modesty but I also believe in being able to use both of my hands to care for my baby. I also know that those large nursing covers do little to detract attention from a nursing mother, in fact, if you're struggling beneath the cover the movement and odd shaped tent will only attract unwanted attention. Solution? Wear user friendly nursing tank tops (preferably with shape wear.) and flowy or ruffly shirts that will act as their own covers. I'm due in march and I was all jazzed about an infinity nursing scarf, I'm still excited about it, but I'm also due in the spring which means the majority of my early nursing will take place in the summer - not the time to be wearing a scarf everywhere. My whole thing is to embrace simplicity and eliminate unnecessary complications. I don't need a nursing cover to nurse in public comfortably, In fact, I believe it would only be an impediment, so why drag it around? Anyway. I've been thrifting and shopping and pinteresting and here is my first maternity outfit that will eventually double as a cute nursing outfit, although I'm sure I'll stretch out the tank top long before then and need another. I'll be making them and I'll show you how I do it soon!.
I like this blouse a lot because it has long sleeves and the back is super cute, look at the buttons! plus it's flowy enough to act as it's own nursing cover. Even though nothing I'm wearing is designed for nursing mothers, I could easily and comfortably breastfeed while wearing this. plus it's cute maternity wear.

My Sunday Best // A Day at the Air Show
Today was a very nice day so we decided to venture downtown and eat lobster rolls and hot dogs in the park. We weren't exactly close to the airshow but we were still able to see a lot of what happened and it was pretty impressive.
We all wore matching flowers today! Betty's was the biggest.
Here's my dress. It was eight dollars.
Our outfits kindof complimenteach other. (nerd)

My Afternoon Play list // My Sunday Best
My Afternoon Play list
So I've been neglecting all you readers out there. Sorry, Mom. I didn't post yesterday so here's two posts in one.
1. What I'm searching for: A tripod for my camera. You'll see later how terrible my attempts have been at taking my own pics. I doubt it would help the quality of the pictures too much to have a tripod but I'm sure it would make it easier to take them. I wouldn't have to perch my camera on top of the microwave anyway.2. What I'm working on: Beaded necklaces! I really love this one but mine are a little more elementary. I'm going to give them as gifts because it's fun for me and less expensive than buying necklaces. You're welcome, family ;)
3. What I'm listening to: Again it's Meiko. I was singing this song for the rest of the day. We saw her in Portland yesterday and it was fun! I got bubble tea and Chad got uncomfortable. He hates large crowds.
4. What I'm reading: "Heroes for My Daughter" by Brad Meltzer. The introduction made me cry. All parents should read this book or it's counterpart, "Heroes for My Son."
5. What I'm watching: I Love Lucy! She was one of the Heroes in Brad Meltzer's book. These shows are so cute and funny... and I really love the dresses and hats and gloves and jewelry and shoes.
6. What I'm excited about: My sister-in-laws bachelorette party. It's going to be so much fun! Has anybody been to one with fun games we could play? All of them wholesome of course...
7. Who I'm blog-stalking: Molly of Matchstick Molly. This girl is so inspirational and super smart. I've had the very distinct pleasure of getting to spend time with her and she was very full of life and funny. She has a way of writing that makes you want to read ahead or all at once - to absorb what she's saying. Like what she's writing is lemonade and you just want to guzzle it all down. It's very refreshing. If you haven't been there yet visit her blog!
My Sunday Best.
As I mentioned earlier, yesterday we Saw meiko perform. We went to the Old Port festival in downtown Portland and it was packed. We didn't stick around to see Eric Hutchinson because we had Betty with us and it was really warm and sunny but that's okay... I really went for Meiko anyway. My parent's flight left for Ketchikan at 6 yesterday morning so we went to a church that Chad's parent's church planted in Portland. It was a really good service which is awesome but sad at the same time because we'd like to go more often but the Church is just too far from our house. After church we just hung out and spent the day in Portland until Meiko played. It was a beautiful day. I started out with a long sleeve sweater on and ended the day covered in sunscreen. Maine weather is too sunny for pale people.
I really like this skirt because it has lots of buttons and pockets. also it was a thrift store score. How cute is Betty in this picture? Women near us were jumping out of her skin when she smiled for the camera. Check out the street... The whole town is bricked like this and it's beautiful.
More Thrifty Finds
Betty is terrified of dogs. In the second picture, even thought the dog was gone, Betty wouldn't let me put her down. The dress and leggings were both thrift store finds. the leggings were free because I pointed out a pen mark and the dress was $8.00. Also, don't worry, I am getting my hair fixed soon.
Okay so we've established that I'm terrible at these pictures, right? that being said, I've been pinning lots of mixed prints outfits and this was my attempt. purple plaid shorts and a floral shirt. Yay me. notice Betty in the background completely unfazed by my strange behavior.
The turquoise poppy dress was $6.00// vintage floral skirt $3.99// long jersey dress 4.99 // grey mini dress $7.99 // purple dresses $7.99 // red pleated skirt $3.99 // cute shoes! $6.00 // and, oh yes, that's a stretchy pant suit and it's awesome!!! I'm determined to wear it some place! $5.99.
I was able to go thrifting with my mom which was awesome because she's great at it. She finds all sorts of stuff. She got a full wooden kitchen set that's really cute and looks handmade from Goodwill for three dollars! Anyway it's always fun to thrift with another person because then there's someone there to tell you what's ugly and what's not. Unfortunately for everyone that goes shopping with me the word "ugly"is usually my cue to buy something and those ugly items are generally the ones I love the most. I'll be back with more tomorrow! Have a good night!
